Dagestan: relatives of Novy Kyakhulay villager demand to investigate his kidnapping
Sirazhuddin Kurbanov, a resident of the village of Novy Kyakhulay, Lenin District of Makhachkala, was kidnapped on November 15 and tortured, said a source from the Dagestani Regional Public Organization (DRPO) "Pravozaschita" (Advocacy). The kidnappers released Kurbanov on the same day.
The DRPO source has informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that certain men in masks took away the man who was driving his Suzuki car. According to eyewitnesses, the men were waiting for him and were ready to stop him. First they stopped the car, checked the driver's documents, and then asked him to open the trunk – at the moment, when he did it, they tied up and put him into their car.
"At about 11:00 p.m. on November 15, Kurbanov called his mother and said that he was released and was on his way home. He was hit several times on his head with a plastic bottle filled with water; then, electric current was passed through him. Eventually, the kidnappers told him that they knew that he had been involved in nothing, and ordered him not to mix with anything," said the source from the "Advocacy".
On November 16, Kurbanov's relatives filed an application on his kidnapping to the Lenin ROVD (District Interior Division) of Makhachkala asking the police to address the incident. Later, the ROVD reported that the information was being checked.
