Volgograd Regional Prosecutor's Office demands to announce construction of housing in nature park illegal

As reported by Oksana Cheredinina, a senior assistant to the Volgograd Regional Public Prosecutor, the construction of the cottage settlement in the Volga-Akhtuba Floodplain is illegal; and about 30 potential tenants who had invested into construction cannot register their titles. Lyudmila Solovyova, the deputy head of the regional branch of the "Green Alliance" Party, has added that on November 11 a petition against changing the boundaries of the floodplain and other natural parks of the region will be handed over to the federal authorities.

On November 8, a rally was held in Volgograd against narrowing natural parks and construction of houses in their territory. The protest was caused by the information that under the pretext of reorganizing the park "Volga-Akhtuba Floodplain" they want to alienate 60 hectares of its territory.

The "Green Alliance" would like to draw the attention of regional and federal authorities to the problem of preservation of natural monuments and protected areas, Lyudmila Solovyova has explained.

The Volgograd Regional Prosecutor's Office has treated the development of 27.7 hectares ongoing in the Volga-Akhtuba Floodplain as illegal; it is investigated within the framework of the opened criminal case, said Oksana Cheredinina.
