Volgograd GUVD: participants of unsanctioned anti-terrorism action fined and registered by police

In Volgograd, the court has ruled to fine three local residents for taking part in an unsanctioned rally against terrorism. Another 20 minors have been registered by the police. However, an eyewitness asserts that the detention of the participants was in no way motivated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the call to go out for the action on October 25 to the movie-theatre "Yubileiny" was spread in social networks distributed by unknown persons on October 24. The police said that the rally was stopped, as it was not agreed with the authorities. On the day of the planned action, the police reported about six detainees.

Three protesters were punished with administrative protocols on violations of the established order of organizing or holding meetings, rallies, demonstrations, marches and pickets. Such offences entail fines of 10-20 thousand roubles or mandatory public works for up to forty hours.

At the movie-theatre "Yubileiny", located in the Krasnoarmeisky District of Volgograd, some 20 persons gathered, as the user Vatrobo wrote in his blog on the "Livejournal". According to his story, a city official was present there, who "began frightening the people that the rally was illegal, and those who did not disperse would be fined."

"I've always stood against nationalism, racism and religious hatred. And I honestly thought that the rally would hear such calls. But no, no one shouted a word," the user wrote.
