Terror act in Volgograd was committed right on the day of events in Grozny in 1999

The terror act in Volgograd on October 21 was committed in the 14th anniversary of the events in Grozny, when, according to witnesses and human rights defenders, the Grozny marketplace, the maternity hospital and one of the city mosques were attacked by missiles. So far, the armed underground has not taken responsibility for the explosion in Volgograd.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the explosion in the bus in Volgograd was committed by Naida Asiyalova, a 30-year-old native of Dagestan. As a result of the explosion, seven persons were killed; and 27 victims are still in hospitals.

Today, the Volgograd Region has announced a three-day mourning to pay tribute to the casualties. This was reported by an official from the regional government. According to unofficial information of the investigators, the main suspects of organization of the terror act are a common-law husband of the suspected suicide bomber and two other natives of Dagestan, who have already been put on the wanted list on suspicion of involvement in the double terror act committed in May 2012 in Dagestan.

According to eyewitnesses, 14 years ago, on October 21, 1999, Grozny, the capital of Chechnya, was subjected to multiple pointed missile attacks.

According to the report prepared by the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" named "September-November 1999. Shelling and Bombing", one missile exploded in the Central Marketplace, the other two near the maternity hospital and the main post office building. As a result, about 140 persons were killed and more than 200 injured, including women and children.

This incident was widely publicized outside Chechnya. Then, the human rights defenders quoted the comments of officials of the Russian Federation, who denied the use of missiles by Russian law enforcers.

It should be noted that in early July, Doku Umarov, the leader of the armed underground of Northern Caucasus, called the militants to disrupt the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games and cancelled the moratorium on committing terror acts in Russia.
