Two powerful bombs found near mosque neutralized in Khasavyurt

Sappers have defused the two bombs found last night at a mosque in Khasavyurt; the power of each of them was about 40 kilograms of TNT (trotyl) equivalent, law enforcement sources report.

Two black packs, wrapped with adhesive tape, were found at 2:45 a.m. Moscow time in Khasavyurt at the main entrance to the mosque situated in Magidov Street, and 20 meters at the end of the buildings. Residents of nearby houses were evacuated.

The area was cordoned off; and the mosque was closed.

Explosive experts from the local FSB found that the bombs were improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Both bombs were successfully defused.

According to the Dagestani newspaper "Chernovik", the power of each of the bombs was about 40 kilos of TNT equivalent.
