Today marks four years since Natalia Estemirova's murder

Today marks exactly four years since in 2009, Natalia Estemirova, a staff member of the Grozny Office of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", was kidnapped and murdered in Chechnya.

On July 15, 2009, Natalia Estemirova was kidnapped by unidentified persons in Grozny, then, she was brought to the territory of Ingushetia and murdered. Her colleagues associate her murder with her professional activities.

The tragic anniversary is to be marked by a variety of events that are scheduled, in particularly, to be held in Saint Petersburg. So, the public organization "House of Peace and Non-violence" plans to conduct a series of solo pickets in the city.

"Four years have passed; however, we are not aware of the progress of the investigation and why around this case is being silenced," said Elena Vilenskaya, the leader of the organization "House of Peace and Non-violence". She believes that citizens of Russia have the right and should know who is guilty of the murder of Natalia Estemirova.
