CEC of Armenia: Serzh Sargsyan won the presidential election

The incumbent President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan won the election of Head of the state, Chairperson of Central Election Committee reported.

According to preliminary data of CEC, all in all 1 518 405 electors, i.e. 60,05% of total number of the electorate, took part in voting.

According to calculation of ballot papers from 100% polling stations, Serzh Sargsyan polled 58,64% votes. According to the data of CEC, 861 160 electors voted for him.

Ex-Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Raffi Ovannisyan polled 36,75% votes. 539 672 electors voted for him, “Novosti-Armenia” reports.

Grant Bagratyan with 2,15% votes occupies the third place, Paruir Airikyan polled 1,23% and Andreas Gukasyan 0,57% votes. Vartan Serdakyan was supported by 0,42% electors. Arman Melikyan polled 0,24% votes, Armenia Today reports.

It should be pointed out that representatives of campaign headquarters of a number of candidates for presidency of Armenia reported numerous violations during the election. Helsinki Committee of Armenia agreed with their opinion.

The process of voting was controlled by no less than 3600 observers from local organizations. While monitoring local observers registered cases of ballot-box stuffing and bribing voters.

According to international observers’ estimation, election in Armenia on the whole passed off without violations.
