Actions “Stavropol region is no Caucasus” passed off in a number of Russian towns

Today actions of protest organized by an unregistered party “New Force” under a joint slogan “Stavropol region is no Caucasus” whose participants demanded separation of Stavropol region from North-Caucasian Federal Okrug and toughening migration regime there concerning natives of North-Caucasian republics and the countries of Central Asia passed off in a number of towns of Russia.

The main actions were appointed in Stavropol and Nevinnomyssk and the respective notifications were submitted to local authorities. The municipal authorities of Nevinnomyssk and Stavropol did not authorize the meetings. A combined detachment of policemen numbering 139 persons was sent from Stavropol to Nevinnomyssk.

Pickets authorized by the authorities were held in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Murmansk, Krasnoyarsk, Ekaterinburg and Kamensk-Uralsky. Activists of the “New Force” in Stavropol region reported detention of participants of the appointed actions.

On January, 25 and 26, 82 persons were delivered to the standby unit of municipal Department of the Ministry of Interior Affairs, Press Service of Chief Directorate of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Stavropol region reported on January, 26.

The “New Force” stated that a number of its activists were detained in process of preventive actions. Blogger Oksana Borisova (Velva) with a group of young people who intended to start for Nevinnomyssk in the morning was detained in Mineralnye Vody. Leaders of local branch of the “New Force” Andrey Dudinov, Sergey (Yaromir) Bukreev and Evgeny Boyarsky were detained in Stavropol and leader of local cell of the party Ilia Kartsev in Nevinnomyssk. According to the organizers’ reports, they are presently kept in local departments of the Ministry of Interior Affairs.
