The Cossacks appealed to the President demanding to acknowledge them a nation

On January, 24, the day of an anniversary of a decree of Organizational Bureau of RCP (b) (Russian Communist party of Bolsheviks) “On decossackization” the Cossacks sent a message to the President with a demand to acknowledge them a nation.

The appeal signed by 2860 Cossacks as of January, 24, runs that the Cossacks demand “from the President to make an order to Gosstandart of the Russian Federation to include the Cossack people into the “All-Russian informational classifier of the population. OK-018-95” as an independent ethnic group.

“We demand from the President of Russia to oblige Rosstat of the Russian Federation to publish the totals of the population census of 2010 concerning the Cossacks in all the regions of the country on each ethnic code “Cossack”, the appeal runs.

“I and many others Cossacks of the Don signed the appeal. It perfectly registers our one we are going to adopt and submit at the meeting of January, 26, in Rostov-on-Don”, ataman of Zimovnikovsky yurt Pavel Serikov said to the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

According to the notification of the action submitted to municipal Administration, up to 1500 Cossacks are planning to participate in the meeting.

“According to the law, a nation acknowledged repressed has a right of reestablishment of its unlawfully abolished national and territorial entities. But actually, the rehabilitation stipulated by the law and the one the Cossacks need is a national and cultural one”, Roman Kravtsov said.
