In May 2013, 147 people fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

At least 147 persons suffered in the course of the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus in May 2013; of them 45 people were lost and 102 more were wounded. These are the results of the calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from open sources.

The largest number of victims was recorded in Dagestan: in May, 129 persons suffered there, including 38 casualties and 91 wounded persons. During the attacks of unidentified persons, special operations, and as a result of acts of sabotage and bombings 11 power agents were lost and 44 other law enforcers received wounds of varying severity. During armed clashes and special operations, 17 suspected members of the armed underground were killed, one more member was wounded. As a result of actions of unknown attackers, acts of terrorism and bomb blasts 10 civilians were killed and 46 more were wounded.

In Ingushetia, 11 people suffered from the armed conflict in May, including three lost and eight wounded persons. In Kabardino-Balkaria, the list of victims made five people: three casualties and two wounded persons. In Chechnya, during May, two persons were killed and one more was wounded.

The North Ossetia, Stavropol Territory and Karachay-Cherkessia had no victims of the armed conflict in May.

The above statistics cannot reflect the number of victims with absolute precision. Not all the data gets into news reports. It is not always possible to verify the statements of law enforcement bodies.
