Karataev: executive authority interfered with the election of Speaker of the Parliament of Adygea

The totals of election of Speaker of State Council, Khase Adygea, i.e. 42 votes for Vladimir Narozhny and five against, are a result of pressure of the authorities of the republic, Vladimir Karataev, Coordinator of “Golos” (“Vote”) association in the region, considers. However, the deputies themselves deny external impact on the results of voting.

During a session of State Council, Khase of the Republic of Adygea, the deputies rejected the candidacy of Vladimir Narozhny nominated by “United Russia” party. Instead of 27 votes necessary to be elected Narozhny polled only 24. 22 deputies voted against him. During the second round of balloting only 22 deputies voted for Narozhny. However, at the parliamentary session on January, 16, Vladimir Narozhny was elected by the majority of votes.

“At the end of last year the parliamentary session showed that the Parliament tried distance itself from the policy pursued by the authorities of Adygea of that time. The deputies wanted a more oppositional, at least a more independent figure to hold the Chairman’s office”, Vladimir Karataev, Coordinator of “Golos” association in Adygea and Editor-in-Chief of “Zakubanie” newspaper, said to the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

“Head of the republic Aslan Tkhakushinov had a meeting with the deputies. Most probably, he asked them to vote for Narozhny”, Karataev says.

The decision to elect Narozhny to hold the second post from the point of view of significance was taken without any external pressure, Deputy Head of “United Russia” fraction Djanbech Mirza states. “No one brought pressure upon us. If the deputies experienced any pressure Narozhny could be elected in the first tour. The deputies took this decision independently, taking into consideration the political situation in the republic”, he says.
