Nasimov: Dagestani Prosecutor's Office to check information about kidnapping of Makhach Gamzatov

A check of the information about the kidnapping in Makhachkala of a resident of the republic Makhach Gamzatov will be undertaken by a special unit of the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan, said Shamil Nasimov, Senior Assistant of the Public Prosecutor of the Republic for contacts with media and public relations, a Senior Adviser of Justice. Gamzatov was detained by the police, said a source from the Lenin ROVD (District Interior Division) of Makhachkala.

In Makhachkala, in the evening on May 12, unidentified persons kidnapped a resident of Buynaksk Makhach Gamzatov, his relative told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. According to the source, the incident occurred in Gamidov Street, near the shop "Sportmaster"; the kidnappers used a black Priora car with the number plate 707.

The application of Makhach Gamzatov's relatives was registered, said the spokesman of the local Prosecutor's Office and added that a special unit of the Office will check the information.

Meanwhile, a source from the Lenin ROVD of Makhachkala told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that Makhach Gamzatov was detained by the police and is checked for involvement in some crime.

The source did not specify the crime; however, according to his version, Makhach Gamzatov had been searched as a possible helper to IAF (illegal armed formation) members.

Makhach is a believer; he had no conflicts with the law, his wife asserts. "My husband has been learning the Arabic language in Egypt for almost seven years at Muslim Spiritual Al-Azhar University. He passed his knowledge to those willing to learn Arabic. But it's not a crime, is it?" asked Limiara and continued: "He was detained not for the first time; but each time he was released and explained the reason for detention by his mistaken presence on the wanted list."

Meanwhile, today it was announced that Sharif Magomedov, Makhach Gamzatov's friend has disappeared in Buynaksk.

He left his home on May 12 and since then nobody has seen him, Zarema Bagautdinova, a representative of the Dagestani Regional Public Association DRPA "Pravozaschita" (Advocacy) for the city of Buynaksk, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"Yesterday, he went out and never returned. Relatives know nothing about his whereabouts. Perhaps, he was also kidnapped. Besides, this morning employees of the Buynaksk GOVD (City Interior Division) came to Sharif's home, and not finding him, detained his younger brother Shamil Magomedov. He was taken to the GOVD," said Zarema Bagautdinova.

The on duty officer at the GOVD refused to comment on the information of the DRPA "Pravozaschita" about Shamil Magomedov's detention.
