Armenia: "Hetq" journalist claims receiving threats

In Armenia, Ani Ovannisyan, a journalist of the edition named "Hetq", gave to the police an audio record of a conversation with some unknown man, who threatened her and her family.

Ovannisyan received the call in the afternoon on May 8. The phone number from which the call was made is registered in Russia. A male voice warned the journalist that she should not "poke her nose to unwanted matters." "Otherwise, Ani-Djan, you yourself or someone of your family will be buried," said the caller. When asked by Ovannisyan what it was about, the unknown man said that she knew the topic of the conversation.

An audio record of the telephone conversation was handed over to the police with indication of the caller's telephone number, the website "Hetq" reports.

The Armenian police have launched a check associated with the threats received by Ovannisyan. Currently, requests have been sent with the aim to detect the holder of the caller's phone number, the Radio Liberty quotes Ashot Agaronyan, head of the information department of the Armenian Police, as saying.
