In Volgograd, at May Day rally, policemen stop march of nationalists and activists of Other Russia

Today, about 60 representatives of the Other Russia and nationalists had to leave the festive column of the May Day march in Volgograd at the request of the police. This was reported by Leonid Makhinya, an activist of the Other Russia.

"The nationalists and representatives of the Other Russia, in a group of 50-60 persons, went in one column and chanted: 'Take away, share!'," he told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. He has continued: "We had in mind the need to revise the results of privatization. We had an imperial flag and a poster reading 'Volgograd is a Russian city'."

According to the story of Leonid Makhinya, the police blocked the way for the column. They said, referring to the statement of "Starikov, Chairman of the Regional Council of Trade Unions," that the actions of the participants in the columns were not sanctioned.

"We were told that we had two alternatives: to be detained and fined 15,000-20,000 roubles under the new law on rallies or to leave the place. To avoid fines, we decided not to go further. We have not reached the Square of Fallen Fighters," the activist said.

In total, in the region, according to the information of the Regional Council of Trade Unions, 96,000 persons attended the celebrations of May Day.

The demands of the resolution of the rally included: provision of state support for national production, creation of new jobs, restoration of compulsory unemployment insurance, setting of minimum wages at a level not lower than the subsistence minimum and setting of salaries of public employees at a level of the average salary in the economy.
