Astrakhan hosts next series of pickets against prosecution of Alexei Navalny

Today, Astrakhan activists held another series of solo pickets in support of opposition leader and blogger Alexei Navalny, the case against whom in connection with "Kirovles" is under consideration in Kirov.

Today, the picketers came into the streets with posters reading: "Astrakhan residents are with you, Alex! Navalny! Beat them!", "Today, Navalny is prosecuted, tomorrow me, then you!", "Case against Navalny is the case against us!" For the protest action, law enforcers made no complaints and reproofs with regard to its participants.

Passers-by came up and asked the activists about Navalny and about the course of the trial on the case of "Kirovles", the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Many people treated with distrust the information that supporters of Alexei could not get to Kirov to attend the court hearing, since the "Russian Railways" has cancelled their e-registration for the trains. On April 23, at 09:28 a.m., the message about that was published in Twitter by oppositionist Ilya Yashin, a member of the Presidium of the "Solidarity" Movement. "The 'Russian Railways' has without explanation cancelled the part of e-tickets for train 'Moscow-Kirov' and, in fact, removed from the train the part of supporters of Alexei Navalny," he has written.

Today, at the trial, the oppositionist has stated that he does not understand in what exactly he is accused. The defence of Alexei Navalny has demanded to disqualify the judge in the case of "Kirovles"; however, the motion was dismissed, the "Lenta.ru" reports.

The next meeting will be held tomorrow, on April 25, the website of the Lenin District Court of Kirov reports.
