Armenia: preliminary investigation into attempt on Paruir Airikyan is over

The Investigatory Department of the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia has completed a preliminary criminal investigation into the attempt on former presidential candidate Paruir Airikyan.

Another former presidential candidate Vardan Sedrakyan is accused of the attempt to kill Paruir Airikyan. On March 5, at the request of the prosecutor's office, he was arrested. The politician himself pled not guilty and refused to testify.

According to the office of the lawyer Alexander Sirunyan, who is Vardan Sedrakyan's defender, the Investigatory Department of the National Security Service (NSS) has provided the defence with copies of the case files, which are currently studied; and comments will be available next week.
