New criminal case opened against four KBR officials

The police have found new facts of illegal activities of a number of former officials of the administration of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), suspected of illegal alienation of national assets.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 15, 2012, Vladimir Zhamborov, the ex-head of the office of the head of the KBR; Khabdulsalam Ligidov, the ex-Minister of State Property and Land Resources of the KBR; and his former deputy Ruslan Zhamborov were charged with a fraudulent misappropriation at transferring into ownership of the Philharmonic Hall for 1 million roubles at its real cost of 20 million roubles.

According to the MIA, the new facts of "abuse of power by former and current high-ranking officials of the KBR government" were found during the operational support of the criminal case filed in June 2012.

As a result, the Investigatory Department of the MIA opened a criminal case under the article of "abuse of power" against Vladimir Zhamborov, the former head of the presidential administration of the KBR; Khabdulsalam Ligidov, the former Minister for State Property and Land Resources of the KBR and his deputy Ruslan Zhamborov, as well as against the acting deputy director of the Department of City Property of Nalchik Khachim Bekshokov.

Zhamborov is under home arrest; while Ligidov and Ruslan Zhamborov are in custody, says the official website of the Russia's MIA.

So far, no comments arrived from the suspects; while earlier Vladimir Zhamborov had treated the case initiated against him as "politically motivated"; however, the MIA had stressed that "the nature of the crime is solely material."
