A charge of illegal storage of drugs brought against Dashgyn Melikov in Azerbaijan

A charge of illegal storage of drugs was brought against Dashgyn Melikov, youth activist of National Front of Azerbaijan party (NFAP), detained on March, 25. On March, 26, Sumgait city court selected a two-months term of arrest for him as preventive punishment, member of NFAP Elchin Gasanov reported.

Melikov was detained on March, 25, for suspicion of manufacturing counterfeit money. Two false pieces of money were found on him.

However, later a charge according of clause of illegal purchasing or storage of narcotic drugs was brought against him.

Sumgait city police department produced no detailed information, Elchin Gasanov told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent adding that “even lawyers are not permitted to visit Dashgyn”.

The activist’s father Alisafa Melikov denied the probability that his son was taking drugs. “My son has never taken drugs, it is impossible. He suffers from asthma”.
