Special operation underway in Untsukul District of Dagestan, a local resident reports

Law enforcers are conducting a major special operation in a forest near the village of Balakhani, Untsukul District of Dagestan, a local resident told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to the source, the shooting began about 5:30 p.m. Moscow time in a forest not far from Balakhani, and the special operation involves about five hundred servicemen and several dozens of military vehicles.

The on duty officer of the Untsukul ROVD (District Interior Division) told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he had no information about any special operation near Balakhani. The same was stated by the spokesman of the republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

Balakhani residents have repeatedly expressed their dissatisfaction with the actions of power agents in the Untsukul District of Dagestan. Thus, in December 2012, power agents blocked the village, while the surrounding forest was on fire; and local residents feared the spread of fire to their houses. In the spring of 2008, as they said, because of uncontrolled fire cattle perished in the village; and there was a fire in a nearby forest.
