Organizers of a meeting against corruption in Dagestan renounced holding it and submitted a lawsuit against the Ministry of Justice

A meeting in support of the resolution of the Independent Congress of the peoples of Dagestan planned on December, 7, in Makhachkala failed. The organizers of the action unable to coordinate it with the Ministry of Justice of the republic decided "not to set up” the participants. Officials of the Ministry of Justice of Dagestan state that they did not prohibit the action and received no official notification from the organizers of the meeting.

Several civil movements, among them “Tabasaran” anti-corruption committee and Foundation “Our Dagestan” who organized the alternative Congress of the peoples of Dagestan held in Moscow on October, 26, were organizers of the public action. Participants of this congress expressed distrust to President of Dagestan Magomedsalam Magomedov and appealed to President of Russia suggesting to hold early election of Head of republic.

“The officials of the Ministry of Justice refused to receive and register our notification referring to an instruction of Minister Azadi Ragimov and his Deputy Habibula Malachilov who allegedly had such an order from the authorities of the republic”, Ruslan Rasulov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Dagestani regional non-governmental organization “Union for protection of human rights, freedom of peoples and civil rights”, member of regional branch of “Fair Russia” party, declared.

Organizer of the meeting Magomed Ahmednabiev submitted a claim “of acknowledging actions (inaction) of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Dagestan unlawful and discriminating” to Sovietsky district court of Makhachkala.

“There was an offer to change the place of holding the meeting but we did not receive a new notification from the organizers about it. I met with the organizers of the meeting, talked to them and explained what and how they should do but we got no official notification”, Deputy Minister of Justice Habibula Malachilov said to the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.
