Two physicians detained for suspicion of trafficking of children in Chechnya

Investigative bodies of Chechnya detained two women employees of medical centers. They are suspected of organizing a network for trafficking of children in the republic, Committee of Inquiry of Russia (CIR) reported.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported detection of a group of criminals who within half a year sold up to 12 children from Chechnya and Dagestan to residents of Russia and Turkey. In particular, on October, 31, resident of Dagestan Amaeva aged 61 was detained in Grozny at the moment of attempt to sell a newborn baby for 550 thousand roubles. During interrogation she confessed to acting within a group of employees of maternity hospitals of Makhachkala, Derbent and Khasavyurt. Later physician of one of the local hospitals Biytirbieva aged 60 was detained in Khasavyurt.

During investigation of the criminal case initiated on the fact of an attempt to sell underage children (part 3, clause 30, point "b", part 2, clause 127.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) two more suspects were detained. They are manager of children's unit of Khasavyurt Central municipal hospital Jennet Saidullaeva and doctor of maternity hospital No 3 of Makhachkala Batuli Chupalaeva, web-site of CIR reports.

The physicians detained after an inspection of medical centers in Dagestan were delivered to the investigative department for state of the evidence, "Life News" reports.

According to secret services, Saidullaeva had a long-term cooperation with Chupalaeva who searched for children for sale in Makhachkala and offered transactions to young mothers or persuaded them into child abandonment. Amaeva took the babies from hospital in Khasavyurt and searched for customers. The negotiator received 50 thousand roubles for each transaction and the rest of the sum was given to the physicians.

According to the police, it was just the Central municipal hospital of Khasavyurt where the boy sold for 550 thousand roubles was born. The investigation also established identity of the baby's mother. "During interrogation she confessed that she gave her newborn baby to doctor Chupalaeva asking to find a good family for him", a source in law enforcement bodies of the region said adding that the woman denied the fact of taking money for her baby.
