In Stavropol, doctor is accused of teenager's death in pressure chamber

The investigation has finalized the inquiry into the criminal case against the hospital doctor in Stavropol, where a teenager died from burns received in a fire in a pressure chamber. The doctor is accused of causing death by negligence, the Territorial Department of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reports.

On August 30, because of ignition of the chamber, a 17-year-old patient suffered burns. He was taken to the intensive care unit in critical condition and died there one day later. According to law enforcers, a lighter was found on the casualty that could have caused the fire.

Investigators believe that on August 30 the doctor failed to properly prepare the teen for the barotherapy session and remove all the unnecessary items. This, in turn, led to ignition of oxygen; the patient received burns and died, as the website of the above Department of the ICRF reports.
