Adygea opens second computer class for pensioners and people with disabilities

Today, within the programme "Grandma online-Grandpa online", Maikop opens the second computer class for seniors. The Adyg State University will present certificates of completion of the courses to the students, who completed the training.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Zaurbek Shu, Chairman of the territorial association "Sotsprof", that each class was equipped with 10 places for pupils.

"The course consists of 14 lessons two lessons a week. The training module teaches students the basics of computer literacy for six weeks. Initially, the grandparents, who come to the courses, do not know how to turn on the computer, and the graduates of the training courses are already able to write an email, to communicate via "Skype", to find necessary information through search engines, to use social networks, and to send a complaint to the municipal services. People get a new window to the world. This programme is a powerful social message," the trade union leader believes.

Furthermore, according to him, the programme "Grandma online" contributes to relationships between the generations. "I recently witnessed a conversation between two trainees of the course," Zaurbek Shu says. He continues: "The one trainee tells the other that she has written an SMS to her granddaughter that she should urgently switch on the 'aska' (ICQ) or send a reply via 'soap' (email). You can see that at present, grandparents have even common slang with their grandchildren."

"I found out about those courses from someone of my acquaintances, and I decided to try to attend the course," says Galina Eremenko, a resident of Maikop. She continues: "I had been working at the civil aviation for 40 years, and I had to use special programmes at my work; however, it is quite another matter. At first, the courses taught me to use 'Skype'. Now, I turn on the laptop in the morning, I open 'Skype', and I can communicate with my daughter and grandchildren, who live in Moscow."
