In Saint Petersburg, mass fight involving police and natives of Dagestan occurs

At night of September 18, in Saint Petersburg, a mass fight occurred. It involved eight natives of Dagestan and two policemen, employed at the OMON (riot police) of Saint Petersburg.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in the region, the conflict arose because of a damaged car, parked in the yard of No. 109 in Ryabovskoe highway. Owner of the car, a 23-year-old woman, states that she had a conflict with a group of people, who damaged her car y throwing stones in it.

Several neighbours of the young woman, including policemen, employed at the OMON of Saint Petersburg, who lived in the same house, heard the noise and came to help her. As a result, the conflict escalated into a mutual fight. One of the policemen, the Senior Police Sergeant, got a closed traumatic brain injury, head concussion, bruising and haematomas of the face. This was reported by the official website of the MIA in the region.

Police officers, who arrived at the place, detained eight participants of the fight, natives of Dagestan, who were 20-32 years old. The suspects work in Saint Petersburg in one of the construction companies, the "Neva24" reports.

The protocols on administrative violation were completed against the detainees under Article 20.1 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation (petty hooliganism), the "AIF-Petersburg" reports.

The incident, which took place in Saint Petersburg, has already caused a reaction among bloggers. "In particular, I am 'shocked' by the response of the law enforcement bodies to the event the protocol under the Administrative Code. And that is all. For political demonstrations, they blatantly charge people under articles like for riots; however, for real riots they complete protocols under the Administrative Code. It is a strange inversion, isn't it?" wrote today in his "Live Journal" the user under the nickname oleg-ttt.
