In Rostov Region, communists urge to actively protest against Russia's accession to WTO

Today, on July 3, at a rally, Rostov Communists called on all residents of the region to actively protest against Russia's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

More than 100 persons attended the rally, organized by the Rostov Branch of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) against Russia's accession to the WTO. Defrauded real estate investors, workers of "Rostselmash", and representatives of non-systemic opposition came to support the main slogan of the protest action.

"They agree to accept Russia to the WTO not on our conditions. This will lead to even higher rise in price for products in our country, since we have great prices for energy," stated Vyacheslav Antokhin, the veteran of the plant "Rostselmash". He has added that his plant will not benefit from Russia's accession to the WTO.

According to Vladimir Kuraev, a representative of the movement "Russian Scientists of Socialist Orientation", Russia's accession to the WTO will ultimately destroy the national economy.

At the end of the rally, the organizers called on the participant to sign the resolution.

"We should voice our firm 'no' to Russia's accession to the WTO. We also demand to stop persecuting Vladimir Bessonov, our State Duma deputy," stated in the conclusion of the meeting Inna Kutsaeva, First Secretary of the CPRF Voroshilov District Committee in Rostov-on-Don.

Besides, the organizers of the protest action called on all participants to sign the resolution on the immunity of Vladimir Bessonov, Deputies of the State Duma of the Rostov Region.

It should be noted that today, the commission, consisting of several deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, which deals with the issue on the immunity of the deputy Vladimir Bessonov, arrived in Rostov-on-Don.

Let us remind you that on December 2, in Rostov-on-Don, unsanctioned rally was held by Branches of the CPRF, the LDPR (Liberal-Democratic Party of Russia), and the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" (Fair Russia) Party. During a rally at the Plenipotentiary Office of the South Federal District (SFD), a clash between the participants of the rally and OMON (riot police) fighters occurred. Eyewitnesses reported on mass detentions of protesters. In the actions of Vladimir Bessonov, investigators saw constituent elements of crime, stipulated by Parts 1 and 2 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violence against a public officer). In this regard and also to establish all circumstances of the incident, the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) appealed to the State Duma, requesting for consent to institute criminal proceedings against the deputy.
