In Dagestan, car, which was not checked by policemen, exploded, blogger asserts

Policemen on duty at the check point in Makhachkala, where, on May 3, a double terror act was committed, refused to check a Gazel car, which had been pointed out as suspicious prior to explosion by local residents. This is stated by witnesses of the terror act, who are quoted by Timur Gusaev, the Dagestani blogger. The Investigatory Committee (IC) in Dagestan promises to verify the information.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Timur Gusaev, the Dagestan blogger, Chairman of the Youth Parliament of Dagestan, a relative of his friend appeared to be at the check point on the outskirts of Makhachkala, where the double terror act was committed on May 3.

According to Timur Gusaev, witnesses of the crime said that the Gazel car, inside which a suicide bomber exploded him, approached the check point in advance and stood behind a mosque, located nearby. According to staff members of the base, in which territory the mosque is situated, they went to warn the check point and reported on the suspicious car even prior to the first explosion.

"After the first explosion, he drew his attention to the very truck that became the second vehicle, which exploded. The truck was standing not far from the check point, and the driver did something under the vehicle's hood, pretending to repair something. That guy was a mechanic, and he realized that there was a clear imitation of repair. He approached the first traffic policeman and told him about his suspicions. In response, he got a phrase that I have heard many times, when I asked some policemen to interfere with the situation: 'Do I really need to deal with that or what?'," writes Timur Gusaev.

"And no one of the policemen did react! Prior to the first explosion, that Gazel car drove from behind the mosque and stood on the road towards the check point," emphasizes the blogger.

Commenting on the information, Magomed Baachilov, Secretary of the Security Council of Dagestan, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that "even if Chairman of the Youth Parliament of Dagestan has such information, he should at first appeal to the prosecutor's office."

Magomed Baachilov has refused to comment on the very course of the investigation into the terror act and added that the investigation is being carried out by the investigatory agencies.

Officials from the Investigatory Committee (IC) of Dagestan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that they would verify the information voiced by Timur Gusaev; however, till present, no specific response has been received from the IC.

It should be noted that today, the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) of the Russian Federation reported that in Makhachkala, Gusein Mamaev, the suspected organizer of the double terror act in Makhachkala, was killed. Power agents claim that they found photographs in the mobile phone of the killed man, in which he posed in the mine-studded Gazel car on the day prior to the explosion.
