Policemen stop disturbing parishioners of mosque in Kaspiisk after interference of top-ranking official

In Kaspiisk, officers of the local OVD (Interior Division) do not hamper parishioners of the mosque, located in Aeroflotskaya Street, to perform prayers in the building, although yet on April 21, they asked parishioners not to do that. This was reported by Timur Emirbekov, the leader of local Muslims. The incident was resolved after interference of a top-ranking official.

Let us remind you that on April 21, Abakar Abakarov, resident of Kaspiisk, reported that after the morning prayer, several cars with policemen drove up to the mosque, and one of them, without explaining the reasons, invited parishioners to go to the GOVD (City Interior Division). There, the parishioners were asked not to visit the mosque, since earlier among the parishioners there was a young guy, who, according to the policemen, at present became a member of the armed underground.

According to Timur Emirbekov, the residents of the city of Kaspiisk, the leader of local Muslims, on April 25, after morning prayer, visitors of the mosque were again brought to the GOVD without explanations.

"However, one of us contacted a top-ranking official from Makhachkala, and after his phone call the policemen left us alone," Timur Emirbekov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

He also said that the official asked not to be named.

Earlier, Abakar Abakarov stated their attempts to clarify the situation with the police had failed. "A policeman, who spoke with us, said that he followed the instructions of the chief. We asked to arrange a meeting with him and the meeting was promised to be organized. However, finally, nothing came out of that," said the local resident.

Then, officials from the duty unit of the Dagestani Ministry of Interior Affairs (MIA) told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that they had no information about the incident. Officials from the duty unit of the Kaspiisk OVD refused to comment.
