A deputy in Astrakhan threatens with self-immolation as a sign of protest against his daughter's arrest

Deputy of Astrakhan regional Duma, member of "United Russia" party Alexander Kolachevsky declared his intention to commit self-immolation in case if on May, 10, regional court grants the motion of Investigative Department of Directorate of Federal Security Service to prolong the term of his daughter Natalia Kolachevskaya's stay in the investigative isolation ward.

Natalia Kolachevskaya accused of swindle has been kept in local investigative isolation ward for already three months. She considers herself guiltless. However, no details of the case have yet been disclosed.

On December, 15, 2011, at a session of the Parliament Kolachevsky spoke against a nominee for membership of the Council of Federation from regional Duma offered by Governor of Astrakhan region Alexander Zhilkin. Kolachevsky was supported by 20 deputies. Several days later a criminal case according to point 3, clause 30, and point 4, clause 150 (swindle) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation was initiated against Kolachevsky's daughter, "AiF" reports. Kolachevsky himself considers this fact a manifestation of pressure from regional authorities.

Alexander Kolachevsky announced his intention several days ago, in the presence of a number of deputies of Legislative Assembly of Astrakhan. "We will see the verdict of the court. Immediately after it is brought I will give a detailed comment and produce the evidence", he said in his interview to "Nezavisimaya Gazeta" ("Independent Newspaper"). Earlier, Kolachevsky called the arrest of his daughter who suffers from a serious disease a "demonstrative act to show the deputies their place".

Alexander Zhilkin declared his non-participation in the persecution of the deputy's daughter. According to him, Alexey Baigushkin, representative of Astrakhan Department of Federal Security Service, has no information about it.

Deputy of State Duma Alexander Khinshtein expressed his surprise about the fact that the investigation was carried out by Department of FSS, "Novaya Gazeta" reports. "A person should not be taken into custody for an economic crime, all the more so taking into consideration problems with her health and having a baby. I think the best thing to be done in this situation is to refer the case to some other investigative body", Khinshtein commented on the issue.
