Witnesses at a trial on the case of bribery in State Traffic Safety Inspectorate in Volgograd confirmed that they had regularly given money to their superiors

Two witnesses for the prosecution, inspectors of Road Patrol Service (RPS) Evgeny Andreev and Alexander Tselikov, were interrogated at a trial on the case of the personnel of the second detached battalion of State Traffic Safety Inspectorate (STSI) in Volgograd. They confirmed that after every duty they gave part of the money to their bosses.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that according to the prosecution case, at the beginning of 2010 commander of the battalion of RPS Oleg Kirpa formed a group members of which were chiefs of police checkpoints Alexander Karasev and Evgeny Perepelitsa and commanders of platoons Alexander Bondarenko and Sergey Novak. The prosecution considers that they received kickbacks from their subordinates in form of a part of their salary and a fixed sum after each shift and gave half of the money to Kirpa.

On April, 9, the session was deferred again for the reason of the witnesses' default. Judge Alexander Klochkov declared that measures "up to bringing them to court" would be taken.

Today Andreev and Tselikov who came to court of their own free will confirmed that after every shift they gave 500 rubles each to their shift bosses. According to them, the money was then passed to the superiors. Tselikov also said that on the pay days Karasev kept back two thousand rubles from his salary. Both witnesses stated that they had given the money to their bosses "to avoid problems at service".

Oleg Kirpa declared in court that these witnesses' evidence might be lies. "It may be a result of a train of events that caused this criminal case", he explained. Defendant Alexander Karasev declared that he had reasons to believe these witnesses' evidence.

The next session was appointed on Friday, April, 13.
