Death toll in explosion and collapse of building in Astrakhan reaches 11 persons

The 57-year-old Olga Kolodtseva, injured at collapse of the residential building in Astrakhan on February 27, died at the Alexander and Mary Hospital after sharp deterioration of health. This was announced today by Nadezhda Larina, Deputy Chief Physician. Thus, the death toll in the collapse of the building has increased to 11 persons.

Olga Kolodtseva, the resident of the apartment No. 44 of the collapsed building, was saved by rescuers from the rubbles. The woman was hospitalized with broken ribs, sternum and lower limbs.

In the morning of March 12, the health status of Olga Kolodtseva deteriorated, and she died at about 4:00 p.m. However, the official information about that fact was disseminated only today.

"The woman got fatal complications that, according to statistics, could arise in that situation in 4-7 percent of cases. And in 99 percent of cases, they are fatal," the RIA "Novosti" quotes Nadezhda Larina as saying.

Preliminary, doctors mentioned a thrombus as the cause of the woman's death, the "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" reports.
