Armenian government to let dismantle trade stalls in Mashtots Park within three years

The Armenian government has decided to dismantle trade stalls in the park near Mashtots Avenue in the three-year term. The resolution came into force on March 15.

"Starting from this moment, no later than within three years, the pavilions, located in the park at the address of No. 22/1, Mashtots Avenue, Yerevan, constructed by the Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC) "Kenton-Kanachapatum" of Yerevan subordination, should be dismantled to ensure the implementation of urban development programme 'Old Yerevan'," the press service of the Armenian government reports.

According to the resolution, Arami, F. Byuzand, and E. Kokhbatsi Streets are recognized as the territory of public importance. Through the transfer of the lost and ruined monuments of history and culture, aesthetic urban development environment will be reconstructed in the park territory, the press service reports.

Transfer of trade stalls from Abovyan Street to the park near Mashtots Avenue caused protests of ecologists. Starting from January 30, the protest actions are being held in the capital of Armenia.
