Restart of ammunition causes people's complaints in Astrakhan

With the restart of blasting works aimed to dispose obsolete ammunition at the military training ground "Ashuluk", seismic quakes are again registered in the Astrakhan Region.

In the evening on March 11, residents of high-rise buildings in different districts of Astrakhan felt shudder in their apartments, especially in top floors. The quakes lasted for about a minute; while the geography of affected houses is now much broader, the "Astrakhan-FM" reports.

"On March 10, they resumed destruction of ammunition; and on March 11, our Department received over 200 complaints from the population of Astrakhan and Kharabalin and Narimanov Districts about seismic events. This time quakes were stronger and more intense than ever before," said today the press service of the Chief Department for the Astrakhan Region of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE).

According to the press service, during the period from February 7 to March 10, when there were no blasting works, there were no complaints from the public on any seismic activity.
