Georgian serviceman lost in Afghanistan

Corporal Besik Niniashvili, a serviceman of the Georgian peacekeeping contingent, stepped on a mine and died in Afghanistan.

"Besik Niniashvili took his service in the 31st Battalion of Light Infantry of the 3rd Infantry Brigade of the Georgian Ministry of Defence (MoD) within the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan, in Helmand Province," said a source from the PR service of the MoD.

The corporal died while performing his service duties, the "Georgia Online" reports.

Besik Niniashvili was at his military service since 2007. The MoD of Georgia has expressed its condolences to the family and relatives of the soldier, the "News-Georgia" reports.
