South Ossetia releases all detained Tedeev's supporters

The law enforcement bodies of South Ossetia have release all the detainees, suspected of involvement in the riots on September 30 at the building of the government. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has learnt about it from Eldar Kokoev, Deputy General Public Prosecutor of South Ossetia.

According to his story, in total, there were 37 such suspects; five of them figure under Part 2, Article 213, of the Russian Criminal Code (hooliganism committed by a group of persons by previous concert, or by an organized group, or associated with resistance to a state official).

"We have released all the citizens of the republic, who were detained and questioned about the events that took place September 30 near the building of the government. Criminal cases have been initiated against five protesters, who took the most active part in these events. The rest of them, who appeared on video records, were invited to the Prosecutor's Office, where they figured as witnesses. We received an order of the President of South Ossetia to stop these persecutions; therefore, we have released all the detainees," said Mr Kokoev.

Earlier, Tedeev's supporters had asserted that the number of detainees was over one hundred persons. "They are detained for hooliganism; however, in fact they are political prisoners," Mikhail Khanikaev, the advocate of Djambolat Tedeev, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on October 5.

Let us remind you that on October 10, at a government sitting, the President of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity said that the local MIA should not persecute the supporters of the head coach of Russia in freestyle wrestling Djambolat Tedeev. However, Mr Kokoity added that Tedeev should apologize "to all the people of South Ossetia for the riots and disturbances organized by him."
