Director of training-sporting base was killed for non-payment of zakyat, said a source from Tyrnyauz

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by an unofficial source from the city of Tyrnyauz that Mukhtar Baizullaev, the director of the training-sporting base "Ushba" in Tyrnyauz, Kabardino-Balkaria, was shot dead by Islamic radicals for his refusal to pay the zakyat (tax) of 500,000 roubles.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the evening on October 7 in Tyrnyauz an unidentified person made a lot of shots from his firearm at the 57-year-old director of the training-sporting base "Ushba". From the received wounds, the director died in hospital.

"Somewhat about three months ago Mukhtar received a flash memory stick, where he was offered to pay zakyat in the amount of 500,000 roubles. He told nobody about it and refused to pay," said the source.

According to his story, the gunman was waiting for Baizullaev at the gate of his house; he shouted: "We have warned you!" and opened fire from two pistols. Seven bullets struck the director; one of them was fatal. Baizullaev was still alive for an hour and could even speak. He died in hospital on the surgery table.

According to eyewitnesses, the killer ran away in the direction of the mosque in construction in the area of the repair factory of Tyrnyauz, where his trail was lost. He is described as a thin and pale young man with trembling hands, who "had not been in the open air for a long time."

The source also said that they claimed ransom from Baizullaev not as a director of the base, but as an entrepreneur. "His brother has a small hotel, a billiard room and a sauna; Mukhtar worked as a manager there," said the source.

People who know Baizullaev, described him as a decent and non-conflict person.

On this fact, the Elbrus investigatory division has opened a criminal case under part 1, Article 105 (murder), and Article 222 (trafficking in weapons) of the Russian Criminal Code. These articles assume imprisonment for up to 15 years.
