In Rostov-on-Don, employee of MIA Law Institute suspected of embezzling institute's funds and forgery

The head of the technical part of the Rostov Law Institute (RLI) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Russia is suspected of official malfeasance - embezzling of the institute's funds and forgery.

"An employee of the RLI is suspected of abuse of official power, embezzling and forgery," the press service of the Investigatory Department of the Russian Investigatory Committee for the Rostov Region.

According to the investigators, during the period between February and July 2011, the suspect ordered the drivers under his supervision to give him every month coupons for vehicles' fuel, and, as a result, he pocketed coupons for 5160 litres of gasoline and 1200 litres of diesel fuel, the "Interfax" reports.

The Prosecutor's Office of Soviet District of Rostov-on-Don agreed with the initiation of the criminal case against the head of the technical part of the Federal State Institution of higher professional education Rostov Law Institute of the Russian MIA.

"He received money for these coupons at refuelling stations. Vehicles' odometer mileages were overrated with the use of technical devices, with which the vehicles were equipped," reports the Prosecutor's Office. "The suspect's misconduct caused material damage amounting to about 150,000 roubles to Rostov Law Institute of the Russian MIA."

Besides, according to the MIA, "during the period from March to July 2011 the suspect presented to the institute's accounting department designedly false documents signed by him on the execution of works on repair and maintenance of motor vehicles that were not actually implemented and embezzled money allocated for that purposes". Thus, according to the investigators, the suspect has appropriated funds entrusted to him by the institute in the amount of more than 380,000 roubles.

At present, the criminal case is under preliminary investigation; the investigation's process is controlled by the District Prosecutor's Office, the site of the Prosecutor's Office emphasizes.
