New witnesses to be questioned on "March 1" case in Armenia

In Yerevan, in the course of the review of the case on the events on March 1, 2008, the issue is considered to summon the ex-presidents for evidencing and question new witnesses, General Andranik Mirzoyan, head of the Special Investigatory Service (SIS) of Armenia, told journalists.

"Within the 'March 1 case' we'll consider the expediency to question ex-president Levon Ter-Petrosyan and Robert Kocharyan. Investigators are reviewing all the details that had been studied before," said Mirzoyan.

The SIS is now engaged in finding new circumstances; making new examinations is not excluded.

Mr Mirzoyan also said that new witnesses appeared within the revision of the "March 1" case, who had not been earlier questioned, but were present during the events of March 1, 2008, and can give new evidences.

The head of the SIS said that his service would surely use the materials and videos gathered by the independent fact-finding group and did not rule out that foreign experts may be invited to hold additional examinations.
