NAC reports liquidation of organizer of terror acts in Northern Caucasus

On May 3, a special operation in the mountain-woody Vedeno District of Chechnya resulted in murder of Abdullah Kurd (also known as Doger Sevdet), an emissary of al-Qaida and coordinator of terror acts in Northern Caucasus. This was reported by the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 2 at the junction of the Shatoi and Vedeno Districts two members of the armed underground were killed as a result of a special operation conducted by employees of the Department for Chechnya of the Russian Federal Security Bureau (FSB) jointly with the Interior Troops of the Russian MIA. One serviceman of the Interior Troops was lost, and two power agents were wounded.

One of the liquidated militants is Ramadan Bartiev, a native of Dagestan; from 2007 he was a member of the gang headed by Gakaev brothers.

The second casualty was identified as a Turkish citizen Doger Sevdet, born in 1977. He is also known as Abdullah Kurd, acting as an emissary of al-Qaida in Northern Caucasus. Among casualties belongings power agents found his Turkish passport with visas to Georgia, Azerbaijan and Pakistan, the RIA "Novosti" reports with reference to the NAC.

According to the Committee, Abdullah Kurd was involved in killings of civilians and law enforcers. The NAC's statement also says that he was directly involved in these crimes.

According to the NAC's operative headquarters for Chechnya, after the death on April 21 of Mokhannad, it was Abdullah Kurd who took over the post of the chief coordinator of the structures of international terrorism in Northern Caucasus. He was in charge of control and distribution of financial flows coming from abroad to support the armed underground in the entire Northern Caucasus.

So far, no details of the special operation, in which Abdullah Kurd was assassinated, are known.

The websites of "Imarat Kavkaz" also give no reaction to recent events.
