In Nazran, provider CJSC "ITT" resumes access to the "Caucasian Knot"

In the city of Nazran (Ingushetia), the Internet provider - the Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC) "ITT" - has restored access to the Internet medium "Caucasian Knot".

The residents of Nazran - customers of the CJSC "ITT" - could not get access to the "Caucasian Knot" since March 16. On March 17, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent addressed the technical support service of the company and received a promise to clear out the situation; however, the edition remained inaccessible to readers from Nazran up to the present day. The access problems were eliminated after the "Caucasian Knot" published a report about the problems with access to the Internet resource.

The support service did not explain whether the access was closed by the provider, or they just had technical problems.

According to Galina Arapova, director of the Centre for Defence of Media Rights, restricting access to Internet media, as well as to any other media is possible only on clear grounds as established by the applicable legislation. "Blocking of access to an Internet resource is possible only under a court order or as a security measure, confirmed by a motivated ruling of the court under a suit, for example, of the supervisory authority (prosecutor's office, "Roskomnadzor", etc.)," she said.
