Plenipotentiary Khloponin listens to NCFD residents

On November 22, the first United Day for Personal Reception of Citizens, Alexander Khloponin, Plenipotentiary of the Russian President in the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD), held a meeting with residents of the region.

According to Mr Khloponin's press service, social issues made the dominating topic of the meeting.

Thus, a labour and war veteran from Cherkessk told the high official about his poor housing conditions: his house shrinks; the walls cracked, and the fence collapsed. According to Alexander Khloponin, such problems can and should be effectively addressed by local, or - in extreme cases - by regional authorities. He added that respective instructions would be promptly sent to President of Karachay-Cherkessia and head of Cherkessk.

Teachers from Vladikavkaz complained of deficit of places in city kindergartens. The waiting list for admission to preschool institutions today makes about 5000 persons. The Plenipotentiary saw the solution in construction of new and modern kindergartens. A temporary way out from the complex situation may be in setting up small private day-care groups of children; this was stated in the press release disseminated by the office of the Plenipotentiary in the NCFD.

Two visitors addressed with questions related to support of large families. A resident of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, who brought up five children, said that for several years she could not receive her deserved medal "Maternal Glory" and respective material reward, although all the documents had been submitted long ago. Mr Khloponin said that regional authorities should study the problem and find ways to provide decent support to mothers of large families.

The appeal of a resident of Yessentuki concerned the depressing quality of city streets. According to petitioner, because of holes in street paving the public transport in the district is in fact out of work. The Plenipotentiary promised to raise two problems before the head of Yessentuki: to address the problems of the city road network, in particular, through consuming the funds allocated for the infrastructure of the Caucasian Mineral Waters metropolitan area, and to normalize the work of urban transport.

The press service of the President's Plenipotentiary in the NCFD reports that such reception sessions of local citizens will become regular.
