Azerbaijani court rejects Fatullaev's claim versus prosecutor's office
Today, the Sabail District Court of Baku has announced its ruling on the claim of the convicted journalist Fatullaev against the Baku City Prosecutor's Office. Judge Elnur Gasanov has rejected the claim lodged by the journalist who had stated violation of his presumption of innocence.
The journalist asked the court to find violation of his presumption of innocence in the statement of the Office of February 2 this year, which asserted that he had illegally stored and used heroin in Colony No. 12, where he was serving his prison term.
Judge Gasanov, when summing up the trial, gave no arguments has and just announced that there were no legal grounds to satisfy the lawsuit. After the session, the judge refused from any comments.
The ruling was passed in the absence of the claimant and his advocates, while Ramiz Rzaev, who represented the City Prosecutor's Office, was present at the announcement. He also refused to make any comments after the session, having expressed only his satisfaction with the ruling.
