According to Armenian experts, Turkey is seeking to improve its relations with Armenia

Political scientists Alexander Iskandaryan and Stephan Grigoryan express their opinion that removing Armenia from the list of the countries constituting a menace for Turkey by the Turkish Security Council indicates that Turkey is seeking ways to improve its relations with Armenia as well as with its other neighbours.

National Security Council of Turkey has introduced changes to the document on national security strategy as a result of which Armenia as well as Georgia, Iran, Syria and Bulgaria was removed from the list of the countries constituting a menace for Turkey. Instead of these Turkey has included Israel into the list of menaces for its external security.

Alexander Iskandaryan, Director of the Institute of Caucasus, commenting on the decision of Security Council of Turkey in his interview to a reporter of "Caucasian Knot" remarked that this step was completely within the boundaries of the policy of "nil problems with neighbours" declared by Ahmet Davutoglu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey. "The policy of Turkey is aimed at strengthening its role it the region and improvement of relations with the surrounding countries is necessary for this purpose", Iskandaryan said.

Stephan Grigoryan, Leader of Analytic Center of Globalization and Regional Development, told a reporter of "Caucasian Knot" that Turkey's policy had changed, so it was impossible to maintain good relationship with Moscow and Tehran and have at the same time tense relations with Armenia. Grigoryan is sure that "The Turkish Government's position is quite clear: they are carrying it out the way it could improve their relations with Armenia".
