After militants' attack on Chechen Parliament, Grozny intensifies security measures

The law enforcement bodies of Chechnya are still unable to specify exactly how many militants took part in today's morning attack on the Republic's Parliament in Grozny: figures from three to five are named. The number of militia patrols in streets of Chechen capital has increased significantly. Militaries and militiamen are on duty near schools. Some parents preferred to keep their children at home today.

It was reported earlier by law enforcement bodies that the three militants, who attacked the building of the Chechen Parliament around 9:00 a.m., were liquidated during a special operation; four militiamen were killed and ten wounded. Later, the MIA reported that in the incident three persons were killed and 13 wounded. There are no casualties among MPs and civilians; the head of the office of the Parliament was wounded.

"So far, there are some discrepancies in terms of how many criminals took part in the attack. There could be three or four of them, although some people believe that there were five attackers," a source from the local MIA told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, apart from one of them, who blew himself up at the Parliament building, three or four others could get inside. "They also committed suicide by blowing themselves up. It's rather difficult to identify someone or even how many they were. Hence, such differences in numbers," said the source.

Earlier, the local law enforcement agencies refuted the information about suicide bombers.

Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov has already stated that the operation to neutralize the group of militants who attacked the Parliament, took some 15-20 minutes. However, eyewitnesses claim that the shooting in the territory around the building lasted for at least 1.5-2 two hours.

A local observer does not exclude that other resonant militants' attacks are possible soon, which, eventually, may cause Kadyrov's resignation or transfer to some other position.

Aslambek Apaev, an expert and human rights activist, has expressed an opinion that this militants' attack could be organized by some third party with the aim to discredit Ramzan Kadyrov before the Kremlin.
