Student Patiev, detained on May 28 in Ingushetia saw no charges yet

Aslan Patiev, a native of Ingushetia and a student of a Stavropol higher school, who was detained in Magas more than a fortnight ago, has not been presented any indictment yet. Now, Patiev is kept in the local SIZO (pre-trial prison). Several days ago the state defender, appointed to him by the investigation, was replaced by advocate Evsei Osinovskiy, who was hired by Patiev's parents.

Let us remind you that Aslan Patiev is suspected of involvement in the terror act in Stavropol on May 26. On May 28, he was summoned to the head of the Republic's Security Council Bekkhan Atigov, and then detained.

In the course of operative actions, as the investigatory committee asserts, traces of some explosive were detected on Patiev's clothes and things; and the detector reacted in three different places: at his home in Magas, in the hotel and in his hired apartment in Stavropol. At present, a criminalistic expert examination is underway aimed to define with the maximum reliability any Patiev's relation to the explosion in Stavropol.

Aslan's mother Khadizhat, whose apartment was searched last week, without any warrant, by inspectors with dogs, asserts that the blanket in question is actually a children's one and could not have any explosive traces. Besides, the woman said that her son was not and could not be in Stavropol hotel on the day of explosion, as he was at that time with his relatives in Ingushetia.

Evsei Osinovskiy, Aslan Patiev's advocate, said that his client would not admit his guilt and asserted his non-involvement in the explosion case. However, according to the defender, the fact of the illegal search in the Patievs' apartment in Magas and the complaint of his parents against inspectors' actions will not affect the course of inquiry.

He has assured that from the moment of his entrance into the case no physical pressure was exerted on his client, and that Patiev is in satisfactory conditions. However, the latter continues asserting that he was beaten at detention.

No charges have been presented so far; however, inspectors make no comments on the reasons of the delay.
