Georgia and South Ossetia to set up commission for searching missing persons

According to Shota Utiashvili, head of the analytical department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, a special joint commission will be set up for searching missing citizens of South Ossetia.

"The commission will include representatives of the Georgian, Ossetian and Russian parties, and of the Red Cross," Mr Utiashvili said.

The agreement to set up the commission was reached at the meeting in Knolevi on April 29 of the officials from South Ossetia, Georgia and Russia under the presidency of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

One more meeting will be held to clarify all the organizational details; the date was not yet defined, the "Georgia Online" reports.

In total, the ICRC is searching 47 persons registered as missing after the Russian-Georgian conflict in August 2008, the Radio Liberty reports.
