The court on Nalchik attack case considers the jury trial referral

At today's trial on the 2005 Nalchik attack the defendants and defense applied for return of case to the Supreme Court Chairman of Kabardino-Balkaria with a view of its consideration by the jury trial. Application was made by the defendant Azamat Akhkubekov and his advocate Magomed Abubakarov.

Presiding judge Galina Gorislavskaya put the application to the issue. 44 defendants out of 58 buttressed it, 10 abstained, 2 opposed and 2 refused to sound their position.

Prosecution party will comment on the application on 13 May.

In Abubakarov's opinion, 'judicial consideration of the case by the tree professional judges is unlawful and contradicts the Resolution of Constitutional Court dated 19 April'.
