HRC "Memorial": another kidnapping in Dagestan

According to data of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", where statistics is run on kidnappings in Dagestan, in 2009 there were 17 kidnappings in the territory of this republic. Human rights activists note that the figure is far from being final. One of latest incidents recorded by the organization took place at night on December 25 at about half past midnight in the village of Gubden, Karabudakhkent District.

Two cars stopped near the house of Abdurashid Rashidov, located in the 7th line. Up to 10 persons with sub-machine guns in black uniform and masks jumped out of them. They crushed the door, roped the owner of the house and threw him down onto the floor.

The unidentified agents took away the money and gold (including ear-rings and an ancient necklace) and beat the women.

Several attackers went upstairs into the room where Abdurashid's son Magomed was sleeping. They beat him, and, not allowing even to dress, dragged out of the house, forced into a silvery VAZ-2114 car without number plates and disappeared nobody knows where.

On that very day, the Rashidovs filed an application to the militia, which, as they assert, was registered only on the following day. According to their story, there were practically no investigatory actions. No criminal case was opened on the fact of the above crimes.

On December 26, Abdurashid Rashidov addressed his written applications to the HRC "Memorial", Committee "Civil Assistance" and Russian Ombudsman Vladimir Lukin.
