Magomed Gasanov: Dagestan court gives no motion to claim against Minister

Shamil Gasanov, Federal Judge of the Sovietskiy District, is protracting not to consider the statement of claim on protecting honour, dignity and business reputation of the weekly edition "Novoe Delo" and its journalist Akhmednabi Akhmednabiev, where Garun Kurbanov, Minister on National Policy, Information and Foreign Relations of Dagestan, is indicated as respondent. This was stated on December 15 by Magomed Gasanov, who is a proxy of the LLC "Novoe Delo" - owner of the weekly having the same name.

Magomed Gasanov said that the statement of claim was lodged back on November 30. On December 14, he had a call from Shamil Gasanov, who asked him to come to the court to discuss the details of the claim. When the lawyer came, the judge was absent, and he was told at the court office that his claim cannot be considered as it was lodged at Kurbanov's place of work.

"From the viewpoint of the law, the judge was certainly right. But in real life, dozens of people receive summons to the same Court at the place of their work. And they never had problems. The claim should not have been accepted at the moment of my address, the judge is just protracting," said Magomed Gasanov.

In his turn, Shamil Gasanov said that he works strictly within the bounds of the law.
