In Dagestan, "Chernovik" case sent back to Prosecutor's Office

Today, the Leninskiy Court of the capital of Dagestan has ruled to return the criminal case against the editor-in-chief and four journalists of the republic's weekly "Chernovik", accused of kindling social enmity, back to the Prosecutor's Office for completion. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has learnt about it from Biyakai Magomedov, the lawyer of the edition.

"As earlier reported by the 'Caucasian Knot', the session was to take place today. It did, but the court decided to send the case back to the Prosecutor's Office - to correct the drawbacks," said Mr Magomedov.

Some of such drawbacks were noticed by the chairing judge, who sent the case back.

"The territorial jurisdiction, the motive, the method and quite a lot of other circumstances of the crime were not established," said the "Chernovik" representative.

"Some remedial actions were undertaken by the Prosecutor's Office without the presence of the advocate of one of the defendants," Biyakai Magomedov has added.
