Ex-Russian ambassador to Georgia is now in Armenia

Vyacheslav Kovalenko, former ambassador of Russia to Georgia, has been appointed a new Russia's plenipotentiary in Armenia, as reported in the official statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Mr Kovalenko was recalled from Tbilisi after the start of warfare in South Ossetia. Now, he will represent Russia's interests in Armenia under the respective decree signed by Russian President Dmitri Medvedev, the "Gazeta.Ru" reports.

The "Arminfo" adds that earlier, this post was occupied by Nikolai Pavlov, who is now finalizing his mission in the republic.
